ABSTRACT

Aroma and flavour are the important part of food that increase the organoleptic properties of a food and makes the food more acceptable among consumers. Flavour and aromatic compounds are the most essential components in food, feed, cosmetics, pharmaceutics, and toiletries products. Commercial production of flavour and aroma compounds from the microbial source in the industry is a modern approach but the concept behind it is in human practices since time immemorial. However, the health-promoting benefits of microbial bioprocesses products are numerous ranging, from antibiotics to fermented functional foods are among the most appreciable one. This review includes the verity of flavour production from various types of microorganisms and its application in the food industry, and a brief discussion about its health benefits among the consumers.

ABSTRACT

Background: Understanding of the embryo-endometrium dialogue is still far from being understood. During conventional in vitro fertilization cycles, progesterone elevation on the day of human chorionic gonadotropin administration refers to rising progesterone levels in the absence of either premature or a luteinizing hormone surge. Most research have reported that elevated progesterone had an adverse impact on the endometrial environment of fresh cycles, leading to a decrease in pregnancy rates.Methods: The current study was undertaken at Swagat hospital and research Centre, Bongaigaon, Assam (India). Fifty patients undergoing in vitro fertilization (IVF) were selected for the study. Baseline estimation of follicle stimulating hormone (FSH), luteinizing hormone (LH), anti-Mullerian hormone (AMH), (estrogen) E2 and (transvaginal sonography) TVS was done. The patients were grouped on the basis of their progesterone levels on the day of hCG trigger, with the cutoff for defining premature progesterone rise being (progesterone) P4≥ 3ng/ml. Final oocyte maturation was induced with hCG. Oocyte retrieval was performed 34-36 h after hCG. Two to three embryos of day 3 cleavage stage were transferred under TVS guidance. The parameters obtained from each cycle were recorded. Statistical analysis was performed. Probability (P) value <0.05 was considered statistically significant. A sonographic confirmation of pregnancy was performed 2 weeks after β-hCG positive.Results: On dividing the patients into two groups, based on the cut off of P4 as 3ng/ml, it was observed that the no of cases that conceived was significantly higher in the subjects whose P4 level was less than or equal to 3ng/ml than the subjects whose P4 level was more than 3ng/ml.Conclusions: Elevated P4 i.e. Progesterone level just before trigger is a reflection of endometrial maturity that can cause disparity between endometrial and embryonic ageing and therefore hamper implantation or cause failure in assisted reproductive technology (ART).

ABSTRACT

In both developed and developing countries, women have always been associated with small-scale and home-based businesses for supplementing the household income. However, in recent times, many women are consciously giving up jobs for becoming entrepreneurs in formal as well as informal sectors. It is expected that by the year 2018, 9.72 million small, business-related jobs will be created and female entrepreneurs will contribute more than 50% in this job creation. These statistics prove that women are becoming more comfortable in assuming leadership position and creating job opportunities on a large-scale. Also, with more women launching exciting new ventures that are not just limited to small-scale businesses, it can be said that female entrepreneurship is reshaping the business landscape. However, the situation is not entirely perfect, since female entrepreneurs have to face certain unique gender-related challenges. The purpose of this theoretical paper is to highlight the unique aspects of female-owned businesses, find out the special challenges that women face because of their gender and discuss the strategies that they can consider for handling these challenges successfully. The findings can be helpful for women planning to launch their businesses or female entrepreneurs experiencing business-related challenges.

ABSTRACT

Objective: To identify the possible functional molecules for therapeutic uses by screening the crude aqueous and methanolic extracts derived from sesame seeds (Sesamum indicum) in vitro. Methods: High performance liquid chromatography was used to scan the functional molecules present in the extracts.Results:or its derivatives like molecules. On the other hand, the crude methanolic extract may contain Loratadine or its derivatives like molecules. Both type of extracts showed hemagglutination inhibition activities in all types of human blood samples tested. However, they showed stronger binding with AB+ blood group than those of A+ and B+ blood. The crude aqueous extracts showed the possibilities to present caffeine and cetirizine Conclusions: Sesame seeds may be considered as a functional food.

ABSTRACT

Objective: Nyctanthes arbortristis is a common plant in Bangladesh. The objective of our research was to biochemical and biological analysis of the methanolic extract of the dried leaves of Nyctanthesarbortristis found in Bangladesh. Methods: We investigated the presence of polyphenols, flavanoids and other types of compounds by thin layer chromatography, infrared spectroscopy, and UV spectroscopy analysis. We performed antioxidant assay by colorimetric methods. We investigated antibacterial assay by disk diffusion method. Cell surface receptor binding assay was performed by hemagglutination inhibition assay and hemolysis assay. Results: Methanolic extract of the leaves of Nyctanthes arbortristis contains flavanoids and other biologically active compounds. The extract showed antioxidant, peroxide scavenging and total reducing activity. The extract also showed antibacterial activities against several strains of bacteria. It also showed hemaglutination inhibition activities and hydrogen peroxide induced hemolysis inhibition activity in human blood cells. Conclusions: Therefore, Nyctanthes arbortristis may be considered as a plant of various health benefits.
